Sunday's City of Los Angeles Marathon drew 23,000 racers from all walks of life to a new flatter course. Higher than expected temperatures were blamed for many medical needs, but it they didn't affect the winners, 2001 champion Stephen Ndungu, 34, of Kenya overall, and Lyubov Denisova, 30, of Russia for the women.
