Wind gusts of up to 45 mph at the Las Vegas International Marathon resulted in some of the slowest winning times this race has ever recorded. David Bronfenbrenner won in a time of 2:33:34, while the event's best time was 2:12:37 set in 1986. The women's winner was Linda Huyck of Olympia, Washington with a time of 2:57:48.

Ibrahim Itani ran the 1999 New York Marathon finishing 7th in hiss 33 year old age group. This weekend he is scheduled to participate in the Las Vegas international marathon in on February 2. Itani will be sponsored by his employers at the American University of Beirut.
