Just over 20,000 people participated in the thirty-third annual Marine Corps Marathon. The world's largest non-prize money races still attracts fast athletes as amateur runner Andrew Dumm won this years event with a time of 2 hours 22 minutes and 44 seconds.

First-time marathoners won the men's and women's divisions of the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday. Andrew Dumm of Washington took first in the men's marathon in 2 hours, 22 minutes, 42 seconds, and Cate Fenster of Wooster, Ohio, led the women's field in 2 hours 39 minutes and 32 seconds.

Compelling stories and worthy causes are common themes that bind many of the individual entries competing in Sunday's 33rd Marine Corps Marathon. Holly Bisbee of Fredericksburg will be running in her second Marine Marathon She will be among the roughly 300 entries running in support of Fisher House, a national charity that provides housing and other necessities for families of hospitalized war veterans.

Marine Corps Marathon Opening Ceremonies begin at 7:20 a.m. at the Route 110 Start line in Rosslyn on Sunday. A slew of bands and celebrities will add to the pre and post race excitement for the thirty-third running of the Marine Corps Marathon
