January 17 will mark the starting date of the Saipan Marathon along Micro Beach. The thirty-five dollar entry fee and the 4 am beach start is expected to attract local and international runners. There will be a course tour and pasta dinner on the sixteenth of January for all registered runners.

Japan's Nobuyuki Yamamoto and Saipan resident Mamiko Oshima won the third Saipan Marathon. Yamamoto won the men's race in 3:19:46 and Oshima won the women's race in 3:51:28.
