A Cross Continents Marathon

The signature of this event is to run cross continents. It was fun to do so. The route is beautiful. The race took over the cross-continent bridge and some good sections of Istanbul major streets. The marathon finished in the center of the city. The marathon was well-organized. Spectators were cheering close to the end of the race. The ferry took an hour to get to the starting area. I took 7:40am ferry. I was barely making the start. There was an 8:00am ferry. It would be nice to have a clear info about which ferry should the runners take. This was the first time I visited Turkey. I was able to use this opportunity to tour around. Turkey is a good vacation destination. It has rich culture, beautiful nature scenery, fascinating history, and friendly people.

Türkiye Is Bankasi Istanbul Marathon: Kenyans Mkungo and Cheptoo celebrate biggest career wins in Istanbul

Panuel Mkungo and Beatrice Cheptoo celebrated their biggest career wins when the Kenyans took the Türkiye Is Bankasi Istanbul Marathon on Sunday in windy and warm conditions. Hopes for records were ruined by the weather conditions and Mkungo clocked 2:10:35 while Cheptoo crossed the line on Istanbul's Sultanahmet Square after 2:27:09. Taking into account the conditions and the tough final uphill stretch both winning times reflected really strong performances.

Türkiye Is Bankasi Istanbul Marathon on Sunday: Two Istanbul champions in race for Turkish allcomers' record

The current champion and a former winner will clash in Sunday's Türkiye Is Bankasi Istanbul Marathon when the men's elite runners target the Turkish allcomers' record of 2:09:27. Defending champion Robert Kipkemboi will be up against fellow-Kenyan Benard Sang who took Turkey's most prestigious marathon in 2020. However Abraraw Misganaw of Ethiopia is the fastest runner on the final start with a personal best of 2:06:39. Kenya's Beatrice Cheptoo heads the women's elite list with a PB of 2:22:28.
