GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON: Kenyans Philimon Kipchumba and Agnes Keino smash course records in Munich

Both course records were smashed during the comeback of international elite runners at the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON. Kenyan debutant Philimon Kipchumba crossed the finish line in Munich's Olympic Stadium in 2:07:28, faster than the previous course record of 2:09:46. There was a triumph for Kenya in the women's race as well: Agnes Keino clocked a personal best of 2:23:26, improving the course record by almost nine minutes.

Generali Munich Marathon on Sunday: Both course records targeted in Munich, unofficial world junior record holder Tsegaye Mekonnen heads men's field

With the strongest field in its history the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON will take place on Sunday. The unofficial world junior record holder Tsegaye Mekonnen and fellow Ethiopian Mare Dibaba, who was the marathon World Champion in 2015, head the start lists. For the first time in over 20 years an international elite field was assembled for the 36th edition of the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON. Organisers hope that both course records will fall on Sunday.

Generali Munich Marathon on 9 October: Munich restores its Elite Field, Former World Champion Mare Dibaba to run

For the first time in over 20 years, the GENERALI MUNICH MARATHON on October 9 will take place with an international elite field. The start list includes a World champion from 2015, Mare Dibaba of Ethiopia. Her compatriot Mengistu Zelalem is currently the fastest man in the field with a best of 2:08:48. The organisers expect a total of 20,000 participants for the 36th edition of this historic race with around 5,000 running the marathon.
